Eagles alone atop NFC East

It was a wild night at the Meadowlands, the Eagles last meeting with the Giants in this stadium and perhaps the best move of the evening came after a two point conversion late that put the Eagles up by 14 and coach Andy Reid and recieved DeSean Jackson shared a victory bump on the sidelines.

This game saw 83 points scored, 9 offensive touchdowns and 896 yards of offense contributed by the two teams.  The Eagles won 45-38

DeSean Jackson had a career game, with 6 catches for 178 yards and a touchdown, 2 punt retuerns for 82 yards and a touchdown and that bump with Reid where he nearly jumped over the coaches head.  The punt return touchdown occured just when the Eagles needed the boost, and just when Jackson appeared to be hemmed in against the sideline.  He took a step back, a step to his right, did half a pirouette and was suddenly running in open field with only the punter ot beat.  He crossed the goal line watching himself on the stadium bigs creen and admiring the view along with the rest of us.

His long touchdown reception came in a similar fashion as he crossed all the way over the field, split the coverage and than high stepped the final ten yards going backward.  He tied the NFL record tonight for scores of 50 yards or more, with these two scores he raised his season total to 8.  He has three games left to break the record and there is little doubt he will do so.  Easily.

The Eagles entered the game knowing the Cowboys had already lost, in typical December fashion, to the San Diego Chargers, so this game was essentially to lead the NFC East.  Donovan McNabb had one of his better games of the year passing for 275 yards on17-26 passing with 2 touchdowns, one to Celek and the long one to Jackson, and 1 interception.  He had a QB rating of 110.

The Eagles continued their streak of not allowing an individual running back to gain 100 yards in a game for the 22nd straight game, the longest stretch in the NFL.  Sheldon Brown returned a Jacobs fumble 60 yards for a touchdown and the Giants Manningham had 2 touchdowns waived off, one after a challenge and review due to his being out of bounds.

Michael Vick scored on a 1 yard plunge at the end of the first half.
