1st thing you all must remember is that baseball is a business. A player like Cole Hamels would bring a ton back to the Phillies that could set them up for years to come. By stating that there is some sort of "disrespect" is not very accurate. In fact they respect his ability as a player to know that they could ask for and most likely get the moon for him. I understand why they came out said that they won't trade him, but that is alot like the dreaded vote of confidence with coaches. I've seen and heard this song and dance before and won't believe any of it until I see it, so the offseason is still in question. In closing, Eric I agree with you whole heartedly that it is more exciting to hear the rumors and continuously speculate from a fan's perspective.

I dont know, with all the disrespect Philadelphia MVP's have a history of getting, it is nice to see a GM stand up and put his faith in a hard working player like Hamels, who is coming off a challenging season. I dont need drama and rumors, I would rather wait through the off season secure in the knowledge that the nucleus of the team is intact and know what to expect next season.
