Matsui feasts on Phillies; Yankees win Series

The Philadelphia Phillies are down to their last three outs/
It will take a miracle for them to defend their World Series title.
Pedro Martinez simply didn’t have it, an as a result the Phillies season is close to being over.
Hideki Matsui has driven in six runs as the Yankees lead 7-3 after six-and-a-half innings in Game 6 of the World Series.
Matsui hit a two run home run in the second inning off of Martinez as the Yankees jumped out to a 2-0 lead. On the other side Andy Pettitte cruised through two innings.
In the third, Carlos Ruiz smacked a one-out triple to center. Jimmy Rollins hit a sacrifice fly to right field to bring the Phillies within a run.
The game went into the bottom of the third with the Yankees leading, 2-1.
There things got ugly as Shane Victorino misplayed a fly ball, Johnny Damon walked and Mark Teixeria was hit by a pitch to load the bases with one out. Martinez struck out A-rod to close in on getting out of the jam, but Matsui hit a two-RBI single to center to put the Yankees up three.
J.A. Happ was warming up throughout the inning.
The Phillies threatened in the top of the fourth, putting two runners on base, but Pedro Feliz grounded out to end the inning.
Chad Durbin came out to start the bottom of the 5th for the Phils.
In that frame, the Yankees tagged Durbin for three runs, two of which came when Matsui hit a double off of Happ, who had just entered.
The Phillies got two runs back in the top of the 6th, as Ryan Howard hit a two-run home run off Pettitte. The Yankee left-hander was gone two hitters later, but the Phils could not muster any offense off of reliever Joba Chamberlain.
Philadelphia got two runners on in the top of the seventh, but Chase Utely stuck out, ending the threat. The team then went down quietly in the 8th.
Mariano Rivera took care of business in the 9th, giving the Yankees their 27th World Series.
