Athlete of the Decade #8 Brian Westbrook

December 24th, 2009 by Joseph Birmingham

Westbrook hits our list at #8.  He would be much higher but for one thing.  The guy can not stay healthy.  He was born in 1979 and came from one of my favorite local colleges, the Villanova Wildcats.   He still owns 37 school records at Villanova.

Early on in his career he got the reputation for being injury prone.  He has lived into this reputation.  In his 8 NFL seasons, he has NEVER started every game for the team.  McNabb got [...]

What can be said about Jeremiah ?  He is huge both on the field and off.   Born in Texas in 1977, he joined the Eagles after being drafted in the third round in 1998.  While a certified lumberjack at Stephen F Austin, it was his entry to the NFL that saw his maturation into “The Axeman” that he is today.

Jeremiah stands 6′ 2″ and weighs in at 262 pounds.  He is known for his proficiency at stopping the run up [...]

Jeremiah Trotter Signs With Eagles thumbnail

The Ax Man Rises… Yesterday Jeremiah Trotter signed with the Philadelphia Eagles and not as a backup. Trotter signed a one year contract and will likely see playing time. It conventional thinking that Jeremiah Trotter will bring a sense of leadership to the Eagles Defense. Leadership which what lost in part when Brian Dawkins went to Denver. The deal with Jeremiah forced the Eagles to release Jeff Garcia in order to maintain a 53 players roster. [...]

No McNabb, No Westbrook, No Problem !

September 27th, 2009 by Joseph Birmingham

No McNabb, No Westbrook, No Problem ! thumbnail

The Eagles started off strong against the Kansas City Chiefs today, with LeSean McCoy having a strong first quarter and scoring his first NFL touchdown on the Eagles second possession for a 7-0 lead.  Kolb stood in there and completed several key throws and Vick looked to be largely ineffective in his limited snaps in wildcat.  Kolb hit DeSean Jackson for a 43 yard completion on the third offensive drive.  Kolb then leapt in for HIS first rushing TD as [...]
